theater room

When Scott's projector stopped working several years ago, we started to use the theater room as another storage room since we couldn't immediately fix/replace the projector for awhile. Unfortunately, we let the pile get out of control, and it's looked like this for some time now:

I don't know if it's because of the new year or because I was sick of seeing this mess everytime I passed it on my way to my storage room (probably both), but I decided today was the day to do something about it.

It took all morning, but I hauled everything out of there and piled it all up in the family room. Once that was done, my vacuum got a really good workout; I couldn't believe how much dust came off from the walls alone, but the carpet made me empty out my vacuum canister 3 times! Yikes!

After I wiped down the walls and baseboards, I shampooed a few stains out of the carpet, then took a well-deserved break.

And, this is what we have now:

Scott caught me admiring it for a few minutes, but in between his laughter, he thanked me for working so hard.

We just have to move the video game consoles and TVs in here, and see about getting a new projector. Naturally, the boys are excited to get this room organized, and I'm looking forward to containing their mess in one room.

Now, all I have to do is go through the big mess sitting in the family room, and figure out what goes into the storage room, what gets donated, and what gets thrown out. According to my FitBit, I'm getting quite the workout today.

I guess that's a plus, lol.

2017

We actually made it to midnight, which hasn't happened in a long time. The kids were too busy trying to download their games onto their video game consoles with Scott, and I think I was being lazy on the couch, almost falling asleep.Once midnight tolled, I hopped off to bed and let everyone else deprive themselves of sleep for a bit longer.

But anyway. The new year is here, so here's to new beginnings, new adventures, and new experiences!

Funny side note: the only reason why the kids were up late downloading their games is because apparently our internet provider runs on eastern time and replenished our monthly data usage. The kids were close to depleting December's allowance because of video games they got for Christmas that needed to be downloaded, and so Scott had restricted them to a certain amount per day until January 1st rolled around. I shouldn't laugh, but it was very amusing to watch the kids try to limit their Internet access and decide what was necessary and what wasn't. But, imagine the kids' delight when we discovered the data was there after 10pm last night.

It was like Christmas all over again.

Hopefully, this will teach them to use their time more wisely.
