Disappeared for a short while, thanks to a bad week last week. Is it a coincidence that last week my kids were on Spring Break and it was a bad week? I have my suspicions, but I'll let you speculate. ;-)
How was everyone's Easter? Spiritually, it was a great day for our family. Executing all the grand plans I wanted to do to make it even more memorable? I fail, lol! We didn't do the Easter Story Cookies and the FHE Easter lesson I prepared never made it out of my craftroom. But, the Crack Monkeys were really excited over the coloring of eggs (Star Wars, Disney Princesses and SpongeBob themes) and the fact that the Easter Bunny brought them some scripture markers and journals (2 older ones), as well as their very own Book of Mormon and a book about Jesus (the Princess and the Fire Pig).
That Easter bunny is clever, let me tall ya! ;-)
The Crack Monkeys went back to school on Tuesday, which was a really sad morning for the Fire Pig. He's doing way much better today, which is a relief. But, I think it's only because he's with Papa and Tutu right now. And everyone knows kids are always happy over at the grandparents' home, right?
Yes, I'm spoiled because my parents live 5 minutes away; I readily admit it. ^_^
As for me, I'm doing better than last week's "episode." And, I'm supposed to be doing laundry. Oh, and today was Clean the Bathrooms Day. And the kitchen. And, as you can see, I'm not doing any of that, and it's almost time for the Crack Monkeys to come home. Bleh, it was a do-nothing kind of day, so I played by the rules. ;-)
Oh, wait! I did do my Visiting Teaching today, so that counts as something, right? I guess I can be rebellious some of the time! ;-)

The Crack Monkeys will be pleased!
Last night the Crack Monkeys slept over at the grandparents house since it's now Spring Break. So this morning I thought I'd do a bit of cleaning, especially in the family room downstairs in the basement. While cleaning, I had the best idea: bring the tv that was in the master bedroom into the family room and hook it up to the media server, as well as the video game consoles that we have.
This is the result:
Did I mention the tv we had in our bedroom is a 40" LCD? Yep, so my eye are beginning to water as I type this because it's so big, lol!
Big Poppa has a large library of movies on the media server, so now we have better access to them while the projector in the theater room is being cleaned (which is where we normally watch our movies and play video games). Also, if the kids want to get on the Internet, the screen is large and they can't hide anything should they "stumble" upon inappropriate sites.
I am a genius.
Well, okay. My sister is the one who came up with it, I'm just copying her. But,still!;-)
The Crack Monkeys will be pleased....except now I think there will be more arguing over who gets to do what first!o_O
Hmm, maybe I'm not so smart after all...

The Fire Pig Says....
Yesterday, The Princess wasn't feeling well so I picked her up from school. She said she was feeling well enough to come with me and The Fire Pig to the craft store (which should've been the first sign that she was faking it!). On the way there, I put my blinker on to change lanes, and while speeding up....
Fire Pig (at the top of his lungs): Oh my gosh! We're gonna die!
Then he bursts into hilarious laughter, making the Princess laugh, too. I just roll my eyes.
On the way back, it was nearing lunchtime, so....
Me: Do you guys want McDonalds or Carl's Jr.?
The Princess: McDonalds!
The Fire Pig (glaring): Be quiet, sissy! You're supposed to be sick!
We ended up going to Carl's Jr., lol!
Another time, we were at home, playing with his cars....
Fire Pig: Hey, Mom-moms!
Me: Yeah?
Fire Pig (holding up his favorite Hot Wheels car): This car is going up to the mountains and then he's going to go skiing, but he needs to- SQUIRREL! *cue hysterical laughter*
Me: You've watched UP! too many times!
There's more, I know there is; I'll have to start carrying a notebook around to record them all! ;-)

A picture is worth a thousand words

I love this picture of Ethan; not only does it show him concentrating on something he enjoys (Lego Star Wars III on the XBox 360), but it shows one of the qualities I love about him.
I've already mentioned that Ethan was diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome almost two years ago; he's come a long way since then, but there are more obstacles to overcome.
Despite having to endure some difficulties because of his diagnosis, Ethan is still a bright, intelligent boy who loves to learn, which is where his concentration and determination come in.
His teachers tell me he likes to finish what he starts and that he will ask questions or for help until he is satisfied he knows the material. Sometimes this can cause tantrums, but for the most part, he really enjoys learning.
I worry about Ethan because I know his life won't be without difficulties as he grows. That's why I love this picture of him; it shows that despite the odds being against him, Ethan will plug on, concentrate on what's important and accomplish anything he sets his mind to because he's determined not to let anything, especially Aspergers, stop him.

Papa's back!
After a few weeks in Florida, Papa is home! The Crack Monkeys were so excited to see him yesterday when we went over for a visit.

Here's Papa and the Fire Pig playing with Legos. These two were practically inseparable, lol!

While Papa was occupied, the Princess challenged Uncle Ben to a game on the Wii. I think they're supposed to have a rematch today. ;-)

Happy Conference Day!
When my brother and I were Young Single Adults having fun in a YSA ward, I worked in the mailroom of the LDS Church Headquarters in downtown Salt Lake City. As a perk, tickets for one session of general conference were set aside for the employees and a few guests. So almost every conference, my friends and I would attend a session.( Unfortunately, this was before the Conference Center was built, but it was still a thrill for me to be inside the Tabernacle! ^_^)
As we drove to attend our designated session one conference, being the silly young adults we were, my brother honked his horn at a pedestrian and yelled, "Happy Conference Day!" Luckily, the guy was in a good mood (and LDS!), so he waved and yelled back, "Happy Conference Day!" After that, it's become a sort of a greeting for my brother and me on general conference weekend.
So Happy Conference Day to all you LDS faithfuls! I'm so excited to hear what counsel our beloved prophets and apostles have to share with us today and the rest of the weekend! ^_^
